The Art of Catch Basin Installation: A Step-by-Step Guide
Introduction:
Water pooling near your home isn’t just an unsightly nuisance—it’s a threat. From eroding your home’s foundation to creating a slip-and-fall hazard, the risks are real. One effective solution? The installation of a catch basin. In this post, we’ll take you through our recent project: installing a 10×10 ABS catch basin linked to a 4-inch PVC drainage system for a client.1. Cutting the Aggregate
1. Cutting the Aggregate
First things first: making room.
Before diving into the installation, we cut through the existing aggregate to create a spot for our catch basin.

2. Digging the Right Depth
Depth is more than just a dimension.
We dug to ensure that the catch basin and pipe would mesh seamlessly with the pre-existing drainage system, guaranteeing the smooth flow of water.

3. Installing the Cleanout Pipe
Thinking ahead.
For those inevitable moments when maintenance becomes a must, we put in a cleanout pipe. This connects to the perimeter drainage system and makes future cleanups a breeze.

4. Assembling the Catch Basin
Here comes the main event.
The ABS 10×10 basin found its place, and we linked a PVC pipe from the homeowner’s roof gutter system. This way, every drop of rainwater gets efficiently whisked away into the catch basin.

5. Backfill with Gravel
Solidifying our efforts.
To prevent any soil from leaking into our spanking new drainage system, we backfilled the area around the catch basin with gravel.

6. Laying the Concrete
The sturdy finish.
For added stability and to prep for the final touch, we surrounded our catch basin with concrete.

7. Installing the Aggregate
Back to beauty.
To ensure our work enhanced, not diminished, the site’s aesthetics, we finished off with a layer of aggregate.
